We support curators' growth and development as they work in or in partnership with organizations of all sizes. We value fresh ideas and formats, knowledge exchange and collaboration, and resource sharing. We encourage responses to urgent conditions and new approaches to working with artists, institutions, and communities. We support the development and realization of new projects as well as the deepening and extending of the value of existing ones. We do not prioritize particular themes or project types.
We offer:
Grants of up to $150,000 for single projects led by curators at organizations of all sizes
Grants of up to $150,000 for three years of programming at organizations with an annual budget less than $3.5 million
Grants of up to $75,000 for hosting exhibitions that originated elsewhere
Grants of up to $50,000 for curatorial research and development, the earliest stages of a project
Selections are made by a rotating jury of peers supported by Teiger staff, including past grantees. These curators, artists, and arts professionals represent a range of locations, career stages, organizational affiliations, and areas of expertise.
See our grantees for the range of projects we support.
We do not fund projects unaffiliated with an established 501(c)(3) art or cultural institution; projects by individual artists, endowments, or capital campaigns; or projects that do not involve contemporary art.
Only 501(c)(3) institutions in the US and US territories are eligible for these grants. Our international funding is staff- and board-directed for the time being.
